THE ANNUAL Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) barbecue at Liss Infant School was a special and emotional one this year with more than 200 parents, grandparents, children and friends attending to wish Teresa Offer luck and best wishes on her retirement.

The Spread Eagle at Liss donated meat for the barbecue and live music was provided by 21st Century Riot. Mrs Offer has been at Liss Infant School for 24 years and is well respected and loved by both parents and children past and present.

In a speech, Sue Symmons, who is also leaving after 17 years teaching at the school, described Mrs Offer as enthusiastic, committed, energetic and fun loving. Many ex-pupils often return to do work experience and frequently talk of their wonderful experiences at Liss Infant School.

As a parting gift, Mrs Offer was presented with a three-night city stay in Barcelona which was handed over by two ex-pupils who are now at Liss Junior School.

From September 1, Liss Infant School and Liss Junior School will become a Federation. Liss Junior School headteacher Jilly Myers will be the executive headteacher of both schools.
