PLANS for a 70 unit elderly care complex in Petersfield are being looked at by planners.
Pacalis, described by Companies House as an investment company with registered offices in West Oxted, Surrey, is behind the proposal.
John Sneddon of Tetlow King Planning, Bristol, is the project agent liaising with East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) planners.
The proposed site is scrub land with a few trees on it alongside Harrier Way, which runs from Rival Moor Road to the EHDC offices at Penns Place.
Plans show it will have gated vehicle entrances off Harrier Way into three secure areas surrounded accommodation units.
Footpaths into, and across, it, are described as having “controlled public access.”
As well as 70 accommodation units, of which some will be one story terraced homes with patio gardens, there will be a central ‘hub.’
This will include a restaurant, kitchen, café, treatment rooms, a gym, therapy and craft rooms, staff accommodation and admin and guest suites.
A cycle path is being proposed on land between the complex buildings and Harrier Way, with a footpath along the rear of the complex.
Another foot path is leave the complex with a pedestrian crossing on Harier Way and link with existing footpaths.
Mr Sneddon and planners for South Downs National Park Authority are set to discuss the proposal to identify potential issues and see if they can be resolved before a planning application is submitted.
If the talks go well, an application for planning permission to build the ‘continuing care community’ is likely to be submitted.
Hampshire County Council Highways Department (HD), the Environment Agency, and Natural England, have been asked for a preliminary opinion.
None have ruled the proposal out, with the highways department saying it is happy to offer advice to progress the application if needed.
Petersfield Town Council planning committee will consider the proposal and comment on it at a public meeting on Tuesday, February 21, at 6.30pm in the Town Hall council chamber.
