COCO Chanel once said ‘black has it all’ and that’s certainly the case in the captivating pen and ink sketches of Camilla Flint’s ‘Elegant Women’.

These are now being much admired in the gallery space at Madeleine’s Kitchen at One Tree Books in Petersfield.

Art teacher Camilla (26), of Petersfield, has been inspired in her designs by “elegant, considered and curious” women in the realms of the arts, literature and fashion, with each given a name.

“Every drawing that contributes to my collection is named after a woman of beautiful significance,” she explained.

There’s Coco, of course, as well as Virginia, after Virginia Woolf, Beatrix, after Beatrix Potter, Darcy, after ballerina Darcy Bussell, Audrey, after that epitome of elegance, actress Audrey Hepburn, and many more.

Twelve feature in Camilla’s Couture Card Collection, available at Handmade Happiness and Chapman House, both in Petersfield. Camilla hopes women will buy these and find serenity in handwriting notes again.
