ESCAPE the hustle and bustle of the Christmas build-up by taking a step back in time at our National Trust properties.
This is a magical, and restful, time to visit properties including Uppark House near South Harting and Hinton Ampner at Alresford, which have been sumptuously decorated for the festive season.
Christmas Below Stairs at Uppark runs from Saturday, December 3, to Friday, January 6, with visitors invited to explore the warren of the Servants’ Quarters to find out how they would have prepared Christmas for their masters.
See festive food being created in the Still Room, discover how the butler and housekeeper ran the household at this busy time, and see the famous dolls’ house decked out for Christmas.
Father Christmas will be in his grotto in the stables on Saturday, December 10, Sunday, December 11, and Sunday, December 18, from 11am to 3pm.
The ground floor rooms at Hinton Ampner have been decorated to illustrate famous Christmas traditions.
These are opening on Saturday, December 3, and can be visited daily until December 19.
A Christmas wreath-making workshop is being held there on Wednesday, November30, and families can explore a Christmas trail in the grounds on Saturday, December 3.
