A BAKE-OFF competition, human fruit machine and a farmers versus footballers tug-of-war are some of the highlights at the Rogate Village Fete on Saturday.

Raising money for the village hall,?Rogate Primary School and local charities, the popular annual event, from 2pm to 5pm on the recreation ground, has something for everyone. Arena events, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, include children’s races, fun dog classes, singing by schoolchildren, and the tug-of-war as the final crowd-pleaser.

Cake makers are urged to enter the Rogate Bake-Off and there are photography, crafting, flower arranging and children’s classes in the marquee.

Foodies are well catered for with Turkish street food, a traditional ice-cream trike and locally-made pies and bread on offer. Old favourites include the coconut shy, donkey rides, lucky dip, chuck an egg, gold panning and much more.
