WAOS Musical Theatre is bringing Bad Girls The Musical to the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking from May 5 to 9.

It explores life inside fictional women’s prison HMP Larkhall; in 1869 the UK’s first purpose-built women’s prison opened in Woking.

Inmates created intricate mosaic floors found in the Victoria & Albert Museum and the St Paul’s Cathedral crypt.

Directors Emma and Andrew Culley said: “There is a powerful symmetry in performing Bad Girls here in Woking.

“From the Victorian women who found redemption through art in Knaphill, to the characters we see on stage today, the theme of finding hope in dark places remains as relevant as ever.”

Performances are at 7pm every night and at 2pm on May 9.
