Petersfield and District Beekeepers’ Association members are holding their 80th annual Honey Show this Sunday at Sky Park Farm.
The show on October 16 runs from 10am to 4pm and visitors are welcome at any time during the day.
There are classes for honey, cakes and confectionery, photos, drawings and wax products – and much to learn about all the valuable ways that honey bees contribute to our local world and wider economy.
Association spokeswoman Ali Hollingberry said: “Why not come along and see the judging in the morning, or in the afternoon to see whose honey and other bee-related products have been awarded first place?
“The prize-giving takes place from 3.30pm so please do come along and support your local beekeepers.”
The show at the West Harting deer farm was postponed from September 10, as a mark of respect for Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. “
The association was formed in 1941 encouraged by the need to ‘grow one’s own food’ during the war, and since then it has had a membership of around 100 beekeepers.
