A NEW event at The Weald and Downland Living Museum will focus on traditional and modern working animals in an entertaining and informative show for visitors of all ages.
Free talks and demonstrations will be held in the horse, dog and weird and wonderful-themed zones where visitors can learn about the animals, their work and how to care for them.
Visitors can meet Shire and Percheron heavy horses and learn about traditional farming tasks and machinery they work with and see Sol and Saxon, the museum’s pair of working Sussex oxen, and watch them pull a cart.
Police, fire and assistance dogs can be seen in action. Visitors can try the agility course and flyball with their own dog, and have the chance to achieve The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Bronze award.
The friendly Hayling Island donkeys will also be at the show as well as ferret racing, rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas and therapy animals. A children’s zone will have fun activities, crafts and more.
The show, at the museum’s site at Singleton, north of Chichester, is on tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, from 10.30am-5pm. Usual museum charges apply and its buildings will be open.
