CLANFIELD Co-op suffered a failed raid early on Sunday, May 3, when robbers tried to rip the machine out of the ground using a forklift believed to have been stolen from near Denmead.

But as they started pulling the ATM out from underneath the shop’s overhanging roof using the forklift, it is thought it ran out of diesel, forcing the gang to leave empty-handed.

After structural engineers inspected the considerable damage, the shop in White Dirt Lane opened later that day.
