MUSIC firmly rooted in the blues is the first love of the Ric Sanders Trio, performing at Grayshott Folk Club this month.
In recent years, they’ve reconnected with this genre and audiences are loving it. They are hoping Grayshott crowd will be as enthusiastic when they take to the stage there on Friday, November 25, at 7.30pm.
Since 1985, Ric has been the fiddle player in seminal folk band Fairport Convention.
In the last 70s he played in both Soft Machine and The Albion Band, meeting Michael Gregory, now drummer with The Home Service.
Ric’s association with guitarist and vocalist Vo Fletcher goes back even further – they played together when they were still teenagers.
Vo has played with artists as diverse as Rik Mayall and Nigel Kennedy.
It seemed inevitable the three musicians would end up making music together and over the last decade they’ve been involved in many projects, from recording Miles Davis classics live in Lincoln Cathedral to improvising an album with the inspirational Anjali Dance Company.
The band is supported by Jonas & Jane, a young duo from Farnham whose reputation for playing brilliant original bluegrass and folk material is ever growing.
They recently returned from a three week tour of the States.
Tickets are £14 for adults and £7 for under 16s. To book call Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096.
