A CHARITY which provides support to struggling and vulnerable families across the Petersfield area has been given a £1,200 birthday present.

Petersfield Town Council agreed to award the grant to Home-Start Butser six days before the charity’s annual general meeting and 20th birthday celebrations.

The meeting will take place today (Wednesday), in Churcher's College after the charity’s grant application was unanimously approved when councillors met last Thursday in the Town Hall.

Town councillors also agreed to give £1,216 to Challengers, a good cause which provides play and leisure activities for disabled children and young people, and a further £480 to the Friends of Petersfield Heath to pay for printing of information leaflets.
