FARMERS from East Meon and the surrounding countryside have been praised for their efforts last night, working to keep roads open and cars moving.
Residents have expressed their thanks on social media after farmers worked a night shift in blizzards and high winds to help motorists and keep local roads open traffic moving.
Jack Tyrwhitt Drake posted on the Friends of East Meon Facebook page: “Just a quick shout out to all the local farmers for all your hard work - I’ve heard some of you were in at 4am and back out at again 5am.
“Local tractors and four by four vehicles were also pulling cars and lorries up Langrish Hill until 9pm last night - incredible effort by you all.
“I drove up the Bereleigh Road at 8am this morning (March 2) and it has been snow ploughed – but even with continuous efforts throughout the night to keep roads ice free Storm Emma and The Beast from the East seem to be winning.”
Daniel Sayers added: “A big thankyou to Ryan Morse and Jack Atkinson who were out on the tractors with the snow ploughs on until god knows what time last night, good job lads.”
And Sharon Sillence said: “We are lucky to have such a great bunch of people in this village.
“Thank you for all their efforts.”
