A £2M vision to improve facilities at a popular country park has been unveiled.

A new adventure play area, assault course and larger cafe are all planned for Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP).

Hampshire County Council (HCC) is looking for the public’s feedback as the plans will be on show in the park’s visitor centre until the end of the month.

“These are exciting times for QECP, as we improve visitor facilities and make more of their natural and historical features,” said Cllr Andrew Gibson, HCC executive member for culture, recreation and countryside.

“Visitor expectations have changed over the years, with greater competition from other sites and attractions, so it’s essential we invest now to help them become more financially self-sustaining in the future.”

Proposals for Hampshire’s largest country park include a “lighter and brighter” visitor centre with a bigger cafe and indoor event space.

A “better car park” has also been promised along with new and improved outdoor play equipment for both children and adults.

Improvements could also be made to the shelter and landscaping in the courtyard. The park has over 2,000 acres open to explore.
