The Fernhurst Hub is celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in style.
Visitors will see no fewer than 30 hand-made ‘mini majesties’ standing proudly in its shop front window, in a rainbow variety of colours and styles.
Hub manager Liz Rawlings – who encouraged visitors to the hub café to take up their needles – said: “I knew our loyal customers were keen on knitting and crochet so I appealed for handicraft volunteers but I didn’t expect this overwhelming response.
“Each individual figure is a work of art, with its own character and identity. Many of the figures are for sale in exchange for a donation.”
Tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a children’s Jubilee treasure hunt at the hub.
Children up to age 11 can pick up a royal treasure map between 10am and 11.30am to follow the trail – and there will be a prize for all entrants.
Next Wednesday (June 1) a free cream tea will be held at the hub between 2pm and 4pm to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.
