BURITON school fete, held on the village recreation ground, raised £1,609 which will go towards pupil’s trips and treats.
Its vintage tea party theme, saw some fetegoers turn out in period costume, and the sunny weather encouraged them to enjoy many traditional, and some not so traditional, fete pastimes.
A school spokesman said: “It was a lovely day, and loads of people came. There were cream teas, a raffle, several tombolas, a bouncy castle and a dog show.
“The children in the infants’ school did a Maypole dance, while a dance by the junior school pupils was more contemporary.
“Of course, the wellie chucking was very popular, as it always is. The money raised will help cover the cost of travel for school trips, and buy pupils treats. For example, they all got a commemorative mug to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.”
