LISS Parish Council has received a £25,000 grant from East Hampshire District Council’s cabinet approved grants scheme.
The grant will go towards the demolition of the existing dilapidated pavilion and scout hut in the village and the replacement with one new combined facility.
The existing pavilion and scout hut in Liss are more than 30 years old and beyond economic repair.
The new pavilion will provide updated facilities for the football teams and scout group who use the existing facilities in the village, as well as for other community activities.
There have already been many consultations with village residents over a number of years.
Liss Parish Council vice-chairman Keith Budden said: “We’re delighted the cabinet decided to give us the £25,000 grant, and we can call on the money as and when we need it.
“Our next public consultation on the pavilion will be held on Saturday, June 24, when we will show people our potential floor plans for the building.
“We need the plans inside the building to maximise the space as we don’t want to put in facilities that will never be used.
“We want to put in what the community want to use.
“It is important that if people have a view they do come along to the public consultation.
“After the consultation the presentation will be on the parish council website, but we would ideally like people to come along on the day so we can answer their questions.
“The next step after that will be to apply for planning permission and I think, fingers crossed, we are likely to get permission.”
The upcoming public consultation on the new pavilion will be held in Liss Village Hall from 2-4pm on Saturday, June 24.
