FIREFIGHTERS were called to a farm at Alresford to rescue a large horse which had become half-stuck in a large well in a field. Fire crews from Alresford, Overton and Winchester attended the incident at Riverside Farm Lane, Tichborne, Alresford, early on Thursday, April 26.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The large male horse, an Irish draught gelding aged about 20 and standing about 1.65 meters high, had got its hind legs trapped, and crews used small tools, animal rescue equipment and a Manitou telehandler to free it.”

The uninjured horse was rescued by 9am.
