Anglers have been told to withdraw the line as a fishing ban is now in place at Petersfield Heath Pond.
Petersfield Town Council have put the ban in place because carp need to recover from ongoing spawning.
The ban went live on April 26 and will remain place until further notice, with visitors to the beauty spot also being “strongly advised” not to feed the fish or birds.
Bread is a definite “no” as the additional nutrients in the water could encourage the blue-green algae blooms which have plagued the pond in recent years.
There is some happier news as the Petersfield Ranger will begin a series of nocturnal wildlife walks later this month, with details and tickets available through Eventbrite.
