There will be no trains running between Guildford and Petersfield for five consecutive days between Monday, July 24 and Friday, July 28.
Signalling between these two stations is controlled by signal boxes in Farncombe, Haslemere and Petersfield, using equipment dating back to the 1970s. As it nears 50 years of service, it is becoming less reliable and more difficult to maintain.
The closure will allow for new cable to be laid in preparation for the signalling move to the state-of-the-art system in Basingstoke.
The following bus services will be available during the line closure:
- 1 bus per hour Guildford to Haslemere- calling at Farncombe, Godalming, Milford and Whitley.
- 1 Bus per hour Guildford to Petersfield- calling at Farncombe, Godalming, Haslemere, Liphook and Liss.
- 1 Bus per hour Guildford to Petersfield- calling at, Godalming and Haslemere.
- 2 Buses per hour Guildford to Petersfield- calling at Haslemere only.
