AN ANGRY store owner in Hambledon says he may be forced to shut up shop as roadworks are crippling his trade.

Martin Clark, of Lotts General Store and Tearoom, noticed an immediate slump in business with a road closure from last week cutting off vital passing customers.

He fears after running the store for a decade he won't now be able to pay the bills. He and his wife Debbie have put out a last-ditch "use us or lose us" plea to villagers.

Flood alleviation work to put in a large underground pipe is to go on until next spring, with the closure of the B2150 Hambledon Road. Diversion signs are in place....
