STEEP Flower Show plant sale on Saturday at the front gates of three Church Road homes attracted an eager crowd of plant enthusiasts.

And coffee and cakes were served at Restalls, the oldest house in Steep, where the lawn was transformed into a vegetable patch during the Second World War.

A flower show spokesman said: “The committee is enormously grateful to all who generously bought plants and enjoyed the cakes and Mooka ice cream.”

Enough was raised to pay for a quartet from The National Youth Jazz Orchestra to play at the 101st Steep Flower Show on August 27 at Bedales, with any excess going to the Ukrainian DEC charity fund.
