THE CHAIRMAN of Liss Athletic Football Club has turned to parents – and the king of the jungle – for help after an act of “mindless vandalism”.

The roof of their Newman Collard dug out collapsed after vandals knocked out several breeze blocks sometime after 6pm on Saturday, June 3.

Peter Storrie said the club would struggle to foot the estimated £700 bill for repairs as they’ve been consistently targeted.

“It’s just mindless vandalism, just mindless,” said Mr Storrie.

“They’ve just mindlessly kicked all the breeze blocks out and must have used some force. We’ve constantly had damage and they seem to get a kick out of it.

“We haven’t got the money at the moment to repair it and I don’t know what we’re going to do.”

The club has already raised £250 by selling off a signed copy of Harry Redknapp’s new book with further copies available.

Anyone with information has been urged to call the police on 101 quoting 44190191384 but Mr Storrie believes local parents should also be asking questions.

He added: “There has long been a problem with youngsters in that area.

“The parents must know as they’re up there every evening. I just hope they will look at the picture and think ‘if my child did that then they deserve to put it right financially.”
