A GROUP campaigning for woman who have had their state pension age raised, is to hold an awareness and fundraising coffee morning in Petersfield.

The Solent Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) coffee morning in Winton House on Saturday, April 21, will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Joint co-ordinator of the Solent WASPI Supporters’ Group Shelagh Simmons said: “We are campaigning for justice for all 1950s born woman who have had their state pension age increased without proper notice.

“The coffee morning will be to raise funds and provide information about the WASPI cause.

“And as it’s also Women’s Suffrage Centenary year, the theme for the coffee morning will be ‘1918, fighting for the vote, 2018, fighting for our pensions,’ and some of us will be entering into the spirit of the occasion by dressing as suffragettes.”
