This driver pulled up alongside the officer with his phone on his knee, holding it with his hand tapping on WhatsApp. He then drove off, while still holding his phone oblivious to the officer filming him Surrey Police

This motorist drove through the town checking her calendar and messages. She put the phone down when she saw she was being filmed and told the officer: “I was just putting it down.” Surrey Police

Shoppers at the local charity shops had seen the plain clothes officer filming the driver using his mobile phone while sat at the traffic lights, and driving off still using it. The driver was so distracted however, he had no idea. Surrey Police

This driver was followed by the officer all the way through the town using her phone while driving. She had only a provisional licence, no L plates displayed and no supervisor in the vehicle so was summonsed for both offences and had the vehicle seized. Surrey Police

Road traffic matters aside, this driver was given crime prevention advice for paying no attention to her surroundings. The plain clothes officer stood next to her for 21 seconds, filming her and talking to colleagues on his radio before she saw him. Her children were in the back. Surrey Police
