CROWDS came out once again for the delightfully and quintessentially English Unusual Plants Fair at Gilbert White’s House in Selborne.
It is always a busy event for the house and garden, but there was a very tranquil atmosphere as visitors browsed more than 30 stalls which were showcasing a vast array of plants and garden accessories, and enjoyed refreshments in the marquee on the lawn or outside in the sunshine. The two-day fair coincided with the Father’s Day weekend again so garden-loving dads and grandads were out in force with their families.
A gardener’s question time was popular, with queries answered by Gilbert White’s head gardener David Standing.
