A PETERSFIELD footballer and estate agent ran, swam and cycled in her back garden in aid of NHS Charities Together – and so far the triathlon has seen Imogen Wade-Palmer raise more than £1,300.

The future trainee solicitor, aged 23, saw the Olympic distance home event as a perfect way to support coronavirus frontline health workers.

Without leaving her garden in Redhill Road in Rowlands Castle, she completed the triathlon to almost double her target of £750.

The midfield player for AFC Bournemouth Women said: “I work in a Petersfield and enjoy The Townhouse bar and Petersfield Football Club, and have had a lot of support from the town.

“I completed it in just over 3½ hours and it was streamed live with very entertaining commentary from my family

“I don’t have an Olympic pool, so I swam 334 lengths of a 4.5-metre pop-up pool, then it was a 40km cycle using my static bike.

“For the 10km run, I ran up and down my 37-metre back garden 271 times. That was definitely the hardest, but at least my legs had just about warmed up from the freezing cold pool by then.”
