THE?NEW?monthly food market at Liphook Millennium Centre attracted a good turn-out, organisers said.

The first food market was held at the centre from 10am to 2pm last Saturday.

Centre officer Karen Feeney said: “I think it was well attended. We are delighted with the amount of people who came along and there was a great atmosphere. The people who came enjoyed the stalls, and we hope to add more food stalls next month.”

The market ran at the same time as the existing artisan village market.

Karen said:?“The idea was that it would benefit both markets. Hopefully, people who went to the food market will also have gone to the artisan village market.”

The next markets will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, April 9.

The Millennium Centre is also planning a village day in Liphook on Saturday, June 11.

The day will tie in with the nationwide celebrations of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“We are trying to create a day which celebrates life in Liphook,” explained Karen.

All the volunteer groups in Liphook look set to be there, and the Deer’s Hut pub is planning to supply a beer tent and a barbecue.

It is hoped Hollycombe Working Steam Museum will bring some rides, and there will be bouncy castles for the children.

A tea party is planned for the main hall with all villagers welcome to attend.
