Greatham School has a very special grandma to thank – Sue Birch, who through lockdown has been fundraising both for the school her grandchildren go to and the NHS.

Sue, known to her grandchildren as Geedor, has been selling face masks and material pockets for the back of school chairs so pupils can keep all their items safe.

Headtacher Jo Goman said: “Staff have worked tirelessly to make sure our school is safe and ready for the pupils return. The chair pockets were an idea from one of our staff.

“Sue offered to make them for a small fee – with proceeds for the school. Budgets are tight and the £1,200 she has raised is just incredible – thank you Geedor.”
