EAST Hampshire district councillors for Liss have handed out grants to good causes.
East Hampshire district councillor for the Hangers and Forest Ward Keith Budden awarded £720 to Liss Forest Residents’ Association for improvements to Liss Forest Recreation Ground, and £400 to the Crossover Youth Centre for the Monday afternoon tennis sessions.
Liss Forest Residents’ Association chairman Peter Coley said: “We are clearing the ditches on the recreation ground to make sure the recreation ground can be used in all weathers all year round.”
Crossover Youth Centre manager and youth worker Georgina Leigh said: “We want to inspire more girls and women into sport with our tennis sessions.”
Cllr Budden also awarded £1,000 to Hawkley Parish Church for new seating for the church to provide more flexibility in seating for groups using the church, £500 to Liss Infant School for the provision of equipment to enhance the curriculum teaching, £780 to Greatham Music Festival for the provision of the stage, and £100 to the Empshott Hut.
East Hampshire district councillor for Liss Laetitia Pienaar awarded £500 to Liss Community Association at the Triangle Centre for the Liss Film Festival, and £140 to the Royal Voluntary Service Thursday Luncheon Club for the volunteers to enjoy an afternoon of cream tea at West Dean Gardens.
Cllr Budden and Cllr Pienaar both awarded £100 to Liss Parish Council (LPC) for the posters and signs in the village for the Keep Britain Tidy anti-dog fouling campaign, and £500 to LPC for the Liss Flood Action Group consultancy study.
Cllr Budden awarded £150 to LPC for the replacement of the stage curtains with fire-proof curtains. Cllr Pienaar awarded £358 for curtains.
