Clubs and groups across East Hampshire can start the new year with a financial fillip from their local councillor.

East Hampshire District Council entrusts each of its 43 councillors with £4,500 to give to projects and organisations in their patch.

As part of the council’s drive to improve the district’s environment, £1,000 must be used on projects which raise awareness of climate change, reduce waste or otherwise have a positive impact on the environment.

Council deputy leader Julie Butler said: “Our councillors live and work in the communities they represent and are in the best place to know what is important to the residents of their ward.

“That’s why we give councillors £4,500 every year to distribute to the fantastic local projects that could really use a financial boost, so if your group is running a project that benefits the local community then make sure you get in touch.”

Applicants have until the end of February to apply for a grant up to £1,000 for projects with a charitable goal or that benefits the community.
