AFTER their highly-successful barn dance last month, Grayshott Folk Club returns to its usual live music this week with a welcome return to Hatful of Rain who last appeared at the club in July, 2013.
Hatful of Rain are a Brighton-based British contemporary folk/Americana group that combine powerful song writing with musical flair. They are inspired and influenced by English, Celtic and American roots styles.
According to club organiser Des O’Byrne: “The Hatfuls use a single microphone approach to performing. This creates an intimate and engaging atmosphere characteristic of every Hatful show.”
They have released two successful albums and their third is due out any day now – and the audience at Grayshott Village Hall will be among the first people to hear the new material being played live.
Hatful of Rain are James Shenton on fiddle, piano and whistle, Chloe Overton, who is vocalist and plays guitar, mandolin and bass, Phil Jones is on double bass and banjo as well as vocals while Fred Gregory contributes with guitar, mandolin and vocals.
Support are Hickory Signals, also from Brighton, who create a haunting and atmospheric sound with Celtic influences.
Tickets are £14 for the show at 7.30pm tonight (Saturday).
