SHOW your love for the planet at a Valentine’s Day event in Petersfield Square.
Instead of red hearts on Tuesday, February 14, it will all be about the green ones at ‘Show the Love’.
This is a national campaign organised by the Women’s Institute (WI) and the Climate Coalition, the UK’s largest environmental group.
And Petersfield WI are inviting residents to wear a green heart and enjoy entertainment, stalls, soup from Fork Handles Kitchen and more, from 11am to 2pm.
They will be joining people across the country demonstrating their concern for protecting the planet and the places they love.
There will also be a ‘Crafternoon’ on Saturday, February 11, at St Peter’s Church, from 2pm to 5pm, when green hearts will be made to wear for Valentine’s. Tea and cake will be served. All welcome.
Petersfield WIs climate ambassador Liz Bisset said the institute, with 200,000 members nationwide, was a “force to be reckoned with”.
“We are not just jam and Jerusalem, we campaign on all sorts of issues,” she said.
The WI was a partner of the Climate Coalition, and members very concerned about climate change.
“We have come to a critical point with the planet, but we can bring it back to where it should be. We are at the point where we have to do something.”
