PETERSFIELD Infant School pupils have named two ‘gritter’ lorries in a competition run by the county council contactor, Amey.
The pupils at the school in St Peter’s Road were given the chance to name the lorries used in the Petersfield area as part of an initiative to make them more aware of how Hampshire County Council prepares for the winter.
It was a difficult decision, but the winning name in Year One was ‘Crunchie’, the winning name from Year Two was ‘Freddie Salted.’
School spokesman Annett Turner said: “The names will be emblazoned on the gritter lorries for the next two years as they carry out their work across Hampshire.
“The gritters visited the school so those who came up with the winning names could collect their prizes and see the winning name on the lorries.”
