THE GAVEL came down on 130 years of history as the last lot was sold by auction at Petersfield on Friday (June 26).

But, although Martin Lawrence has auctioned the last item from the Lavant Street saleroom of Jacobs and Hunt, the business is continuing elsewhere.
The next auction will be held at its new site, Plestor Barn in Farnham Road, Liss, next to the Spreadeagle pub, on September 4.
Martin said: "It was a commercial decision to move. We have been looking for a while, especially as parking is difficult in town....
