HAMPSHIRE County Council and local care homes used by the council are appealing for people to become care workers.
The council is inviting people to consider a career in care work to help meet the growing demand for support.
Councillor Liz Fairhurst said: “We wish to highlight what a career in care can offer, the work carried out by our care workers is vitally important.”
The benefits of career in caring include full training, recognised qualifications, paid travel, flexible working hours and higher than minimum wage salary.
John Cupper, previously in the police and the Royal Navy, said: “It ticked all the boxes for me, I like listening to people’s stories and talking to them.
“You’re making a difference to people’s lives, which is very satisfying and rewarding.”
John, who has been a carer for 15 months, featured in a recent council film called Change Lives speaking about his experiences as a carer.
It is estimated that nationally at least a million more carers will be needed by 2025.
