ONE OF the leading male voice choirs in the south will be performing a concert to raise money for charity.

The Hampshire Police Choir will sing at the Methodist Church in Petersfield on Saturday, October 21, at 7.30pm.

It is being organised to raise funds for Save the Children.

Tickets, which will cost £12 each, will be on sale from One Tree Books in Lavant Street from Monday, September 11.

The choir is one of the leading male voice choirs in the south of England and is noted for its magnificent sound and friendly relaxed concerts.

The programme will include pieces from sacred to popular, and will be an evening to remember.

The choir has more than 50 members and it is from within its own ranks that soloists are selected.

Each member is capable of singing solos from grand opera to some of the well known love songs of yesteryear.

The choir’s repertoire is extensive and covers all genres of music, ranging from the most sacred to sea shanties, folk songs and show stoppers.

Concerts by the choir are always in great demand and consequently the choir is booked several years in advance, such is their popularity.

New members are welcome – you do not have to be a policeman but simply have to enjoy singing.
