THE bravery, dedication and professionalism of officers in Hampshire have been celebrated at a special awards ceremony.
The Joint Operations Unit (JOU) Commendations Ceremony saw a total of 19 officers, staff and members of the public recognised for excellent service and courage when faced with threatening and daunting scenes.
The unit is a joint Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police squad, and covers Operations, Roads Policing and Firearms.
The individuals, and police dogs, were honoured at a ceremony on Friday, May 6.
A police spokesman said: “These awards are for a mixture of achievements which reflect the diversity of work across the JOU – hard work, good decisions, facing danger and showing professionalism are all commendable in their own way.”
PC Chris Powling was honoured for commitment to duty and policing values when under difficult circumstances he attempted to save the life of an unconscious male who was not breathing.
PC Christopher Bushnell and Police Dog Ceaser, of the collaborated Dog Section, were honoured following an extraordinary shift one night in November 2015 when they were involved in solving four cases.
PC Chris Mumford and Police Dog Storm gained a commendation in recognition of the courage, teamwork and determination displayed by them which led to an arrest.
PC Jenny Swain, of the Joint Roads Policing Unit, was awarded a commendation for the teamwork and brave actions she displayed, selflessly putting her own life on the line in order to protect the safety of other drivers.
