THE programme for the Harting VE DAY 75th Anniversary -- ‘Picnic On Your Porch’ -- commemoration has been released.

Event spokesman Phillipa Franklin said: "Stay home and join in our salute to VE Day 75

"People across the parish are planning to sing, dance and play live music from their gardens.

"We might even hear every one singing ’We’ll Meet Again’ after Harting Church and the Nyewood Hall bells have been tolled, following the National Toast which is at 3.00 pm.

"Remember your own safety and social distancing from other

households!"

Residents are asked to listen out for…

1:30 pm Live trumpet to start the picnic by Tobias Bonham-Carter playing ‘In the mood’ and live music from Jamie West and his father-in-Law from their respective front gardens.

40s tunes for dancing: Chris and Tina Brown, as well as many of their

dance students in Harting, will be dancing on their driveways to 1940’s tunes.

2:50 pm Live performance by Ella De Jongh of ‘Land of Hope and Glory’

3:00 pm After the church clock strikes 3:00 pm raise a glass and make a toast

“To those who gave so much, we thank you,”

3.05 pm Harting’s church bell and the old hall bell in Nyewood will toll 16 times – one toll for each soldier from Harting Parish who gave their life in the Second World War.

3:10 pm Live performance by Ella De Jongh of ‘We’ll Meet Again’ with everyone invited to sing-a-long to that famous song still so relevant today.
