A CHRISTMAS Fayre held at Hawkley Village Hall on Saturday was a big success, say organisers.
The fayre was organised by the committee in charge of the efforts to create a community shop in Hawkley.
One of the organisers, Isy Large, said: “The fair was really well attended and it was a great day. There was lots of fun for children and adults.
“We had a Santa’s Grotto, independent stalls from local businesses, a tombola, a raffle and mulled wine.
“It was a community event and it was a great opportunity to show people what is available on our doorstep.”
Saturday’s fayre raised just over £3,000, which will be divided among three charities: Diabetes UK, The Rosemary Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
