THIS year’s beer festival at the Hawkley Inn was a big success, say organisers.

The festival was held on May 27 and 28, and featured live bands and a barbecue, and a range of beers were on offer.

Hawkley Inn owner Simon Emberley said: “On the Friday night we had 200 people in the garden and it was packed to the rafters.

“The Saturday was a wonderful day with the weather, and it was a very good two-day festival.

“We had 27 beers, with 20 in the beer tent and seven beers in the pub.

“We took over in March 2014 and it was another very successful beer festival.

“It was our third festival since we took over and it is improving all of the time.

“Overall, it was a huge success and it has set us up for the start of the summer.

“Thanks to all the locals for coming, the staff for working hard, and the bands for providing a nice diverse range of music.”
