INSPIRED by the rural landscape around his Hawkley home, renowned landscape artist Mervyn Goode is holding his first one-man exhibition for four years.
Mervyn’s traditional subjects, painted in oils, are a reflection of his love for the countryside, nature and conservation, which he can see all around him from his home and studio.
He spends hours walking in the lanes, woods and downland around his home, delighting in the views and being surrounded by wildlife.
Apart from his Hampshire works, he also paints landscapes of south Devon, especially its creeks and estuaries, and scenes from his travels to the South of France.
Mervyn studied landscape architecture at Gloucestershire College of Art but gave up that career to concentrate on his vocation for fine art. His first exhibition was in 1970 in Highton Gallery, St Paul’s, London, and he has regularly shown in a number of prestigious venues ever since.
His work has also been reproduced in prints, such as those by the Medici Society, and in publications.
Mervyn’s exhibition is in Chichester’s Oxmarket Gallery from November 6-18.
