THIS year’s erratic weather meant entries were slightly down at the Froxfield and Privett Garden Club’s Summer Show.
A show spokesman said: “The judges were very complimentary about the standard, and it was particularly nice to see new faces achieve success, with Lucy Panton winning a first for her Victoria sponge, and seconds for her open glazed apple tart, a jar of jelly and a cucumber.
“Eliza Harrison Stanton also achieved a first place with her exhibit of six garden flowers, and two third places. Robert and Alison Francis took second and third in the dahlia and pepper classes.
“The show was well attended by members and residents, who enjoyed the tea and cakes provided by the hard working committee.”
The Banksian Medal was taken by Jane Rothery.
The children’s classes were well supported by Froxfield School, with entertaining portraits.
The Montessori playgroup entered some much admired butterflies, while the Rainbow playgroup brightened up the day with paintings of bugs on tiles.
