APART from a couple of heavy showers, the sun shone down on Hollycombe Primary School’s summer fair on Saturday.

The beer and Pimm’s tent was busy and children and adults eat burgers and hotdogs fresh off the barbecue.

There was an inflatable slide, a merry-go-round from Hollycombe Steam Fair, face painting, hook-a-duck and guess the weight of the cake. There were also a couple of donkeys who were greeted eagerly by the children.

Homemade cakes, flapjacks and brownies were available to buy and children donated books and games to help raise additional funds.

A silent auction helped to raise more than £1,000, and in total £3,000 was raised to help support the children and teachers at the school.

Hollycombe Parents’ Association (HPA) member Claire Beattie said: “It was a great day. The children had a lovely time and we raised lots of money for our school.”
