HOLLYCOMBE Working Steam Museum, based at Iron Hill, Liphook, is now closed for the winter season following an exceptionally busy 2016 season.

The season came to an end with the Hallowe’en Fairground at Night event at Hollycombe.

Nearly 1,000 visitors – many in fancy dress – dared to enter the Edwardian Fairground to enjoy the last opportunity this year to visit historic rides such as the Razzle Dazzle, Big Wheel and Golden Gallopers.

Hollycombe had partnered with the East Hampshire Community Railway Partnership and Wheel Drive to offer a minibus service from Liphook Railway Station, and this was used by a number of families.

The attraction may now be closed, but work will continue throughout the winter to get Hollycombe ready for the 2017 season.

Hollycombe trustee Brian Gooding said: “It has been a very busy – and at times exhausting – 2016.

“This year has seen lots of maintenance work take place on the fairground and estate, and there is much to be done on our winter break.

“There is a great opportunity for volunteers to get involved in the charity, and the winter is a great period to come along and meet the team and see how you can help.

“This is a unique attraction and we are appealing for extra volunteers to keep it running and entertain visitors from around the world.”

Hollycombe is scheduled to open for Easter 2017, when the star of the show will be the world’s oldest Haunted House, which will once again welcome visitors following its 2016 restoration.
