A LISS organisation has received a present from a group of care home residents who sold Christmas and birthday cards to raise funds.
Nancy Battersea and friends raised more than £220 in December through the sale of cards and gifts to visitors and fellow Blenheim Court residents.
Nancy, who celebrated her 100th birthday at the home in September, decided to donate the money to the Liss Area Historical Society in return for helping with a First World War display at the Farnham Road facility in August.
The centurion presented the cheque for £222.40 to the group’s grateful vice-chairman Mike Jordan and treasurer Judy Hayes.

Plans submitted for 30 new homes in Liss - but where's the affordable housing?Mr Jordan said: “The society’s committee and members are most grateful and the money will be a real boost to our funds.
“It will be put to good use and will help pay towards the ongoing task of looking after the village archives.”
The society’s 2019 programme will begin next Wednesday, January 16, when well-known local speaker, Bob France, will talk to the group about ‘Fishermania: The Celebrated Kitty Fisher’ from 7.30pm in The Triangle Centre.
Members will hear all about the sensational story of a superstar of 1760’s London and why Reynolds painted her more than any other woman.
New membership also starts this month and is £12 a head or £23 for two people residing at the same address.
New members may join at a meeting or by downloading a form from the www.lissareahistorical.co.uk website and posting it to the membership secretary together with a cheque.
The group usually meets on the third Wednesday of the month in the Triangle.
