A CHARITY that supports victims of domestic abuse in East Hampshire and further afield has produced a short movie to boost its £1m fundraising campaign.

The Southern Domestic Abuse Service (SDAS) hopes the six-minute film will demonstrate the urgent need for refuge accommodation and the vital difference it can make to the lives of victims.

The Havant-based charity, which supports people along the eastern edge of Hampshire recently premiered the film in The Spring Centre.

The film coincides with an ambitious campaign by the good cause to build a £1m refuge for victims of chronic domestic abuse as demand for their services is constantly rising.

“We desperately need to buy a refuge so we can help more victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence but we can’t do this without the support of the community,” said Claire Lambon, SDAS Chief Executive.

“We hope that local groups such as schools, churches, clubs and interest groups will invite us to show this film to their members and to get behind our fundraising.”

East Hampshire MP, Damian Hinds, was an early supporter of the charity’s Buy a Brick Appeal while hopes are high the group can win up to £25,000 from the Aviva Community Fund.

The film can be viewed at the SDAS’s Facebook page, call 023 9200 8329 or e-mail [email protected] for more details about the charity or to arrange a screening.
