THE STORY of four First World War Servicemen buried in St Mary’s churchyard in Buriton was revealed at the ‘Bygone Buriton’ exhibition.
Actor and comedian Hugh Dennis attended the event in the church as an ambassador for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s ‘Living Memory’ Project. He said Buriton “should be very proud.”
“We were very pleased that he could come,” said joint organiser Doug Jones.
“We hope that people may find photographs, letters or diaries that may be of interest to our research.”
Visitors, some with old photographs to show or donate, came from Coventry, Nottingham, Wales, Oxford, Worthing, London, Petersfield and nearby villages.
Doug said: “We now have about 3,200 photographs.”
