THE ANNUAL fundraising cycle ride event organised by Petersfield Round Table has raised more than £4,000 for local charities.

Over 400 cyclists of all ages, fitness and ability took part in the 11th Petersfield Ups And Downs ride on Sunday.

The day featured cycle rides varying in length and ease, from a gentle five mile family route around Petersfield, to a hilly 50 mile endurance ride up and down the South Downs.

Event organiser Tom North said: “It was a brilliant day, although it was a bit warm out there, especially for those taking part in the 50 mile ride.

“The atmosphere on the rides and in The Square at the start and finish was fantastic, with riders enjoying the sun after the ride and visiting coffee shops and pubs.

“More than 50 people helped out, and they all deserve a big thank you for their contribution to what was a great fun day.”
