HUNDREDS of skaters, BMX-ers, roller bladers and scooter riders are expected to descend on Love Lane this weekend for the Petersfield Skate Jam event.

Saturday’s event will run from 3-7pm at the skatepark in Love Lane and it will be a chance for people to show off their tricks and talents.

The free to enter competition will have categories for roller blading, skateboarding, BMX riders and scooter riders, and competitors will be divided into categories based on their abilities.

Prizes have been supplied by ESP?in Chichester and safety equipment will be provided for competitors.

There will also be a chance to watch some professionals in action, with displays being put on by scooter rider Archie Cole and BMX?rider James Ross.

There will also be extra entertainment in the form of a lazerquest game, face painting, an arts and crafts stall by the King’ Arms Youth Project and a DJ?will be providing music throughout.

Photography students from The Petersfield School will also be in attendance to capture pictures of the event.

Police Community Support Officer Kathryn Morning said: “We have organised the event to help give the young people who use the skatepark something to focus on.

“I?think it is good for the community that we have events like these and it is a chance for people to see what the skatepark is about.”
