ANOTHER Post Christmas initiative has launched this week – and the hunt is on to find the town’s best festive shop window display.
Our popular annual Christmas Shop Window Display competition is now under way and entries are already starting to flood in.
The idea behind the competition is to revive a past Christmas tradition which had died out. Shops used to be famed for their festive displays and often crowds of people would gather for their unveiling each winter.
The Post’s competition aims to revive that tradition and the hope is the extra colour during December will help to bring traders extra custom as shoppers come to the town centre to see the shop window displays.
Post Series editor Graeme Moir said: “We invite all of the town centre’s retailers to get involved in the competition. Hopefully, the extra publicity the competition generates will benefit all of the traders at what is a vital time of the year for them.
“Many shop owners go to great lengths to win our competition and their creativity brings plenty of colour and life to the town centre.”
Entries for the competition must be received by next Wednesday, December 23, by noon. To register your business e-mail [email protected] or call 01730 232606.
Donations of Wellington boots, sleeping bags and warm winter clothing are still being accepted for our refugee appeal.
The items donated will be taken to a camp in France in the coming weeks and they will help to keep refugees warm and dry during the winter months.
Donations of cash are also needed to cover the costs of the trip to the camp.
Items and cash can be donated at the office of the Petersfield Post at 33 High Street, Petersfield, during normal office hours.
The appeal to wipe out fuel poverty in and around Petersfield has now reached a total of £2,150.
